Billabong Zoo was opened in 1986, primarily as a koala breeding centre. It has since expanded to become an award-winnning local tourist attraction and proudly adopts the role of Ambassadors for Wildlife, focussed on blending the three elements of a successful modern zoo...Recreation + Education +Conservation.
The Zoo covers 10 acres and is home to over 220 animals. It is a family operated business and was purchased by the current owners, Mark and Danena Stone in 2003.
We have supplied coins to Billabong Zoo for many years. Our original coin featured a pair of snow leopards. This was ultimately replaced with a coin depicting 'Shrek', the monster saltwater crocodile. The 'Shrek' coin has been selling very well since his arrival at the Zoo, but it was decided this year to update the coin with a new image, highlighting the role Billabong Zoo plays as an internationally recognised Koala Breeding Centre.
Billabong Zoo supplied excellent artwork. It made the job of designing and producing their coin very simple.

Typically, we add our 'sunray edge' to all of our coin designs. It was also decided, in consultation with the client, to use a different koala image as the central element on the reverse side.
