ORIGINAL BRIEF:
Old Wentworth Gaol
Beverley Street, Wentworth NSW 2648
The town of Wentworth is situated near the NSW / Victoria border, at the junction of the Murray and Darling Rivers. In it's heydey, it was the largest inland port in Australia.
The Wentworth Gaol operated there from 1879 to 1927.
The client supplied an image of the Gaol for the front of the coin, plus the text 'OLD WENTWORTH GAOL NSW 1879 to 1927'
On the reverse side the client suggested the text 'WENTWORTH NSW, TOWN ON TWO RIVERS'.

CHANGES:
In consultation with the client, it was decided to add a second image to the reverse side to complement the text. The Wentworth area is famous for it's paddle steamers. One of the most famous of these is the PS RUBY. Built in 1907, the Ruby is still a major tourist attraction.
